Bean Cake Topper

Hi all. Hope your holidays were goof & your New Year is off to a great start.
I am on a roll again. I was recently commissioned to make a wedding cake topper.
Its really different. Its based on a photo I was given from a story called A Tale of Two beans.
The bride to be wanted something as close to the photo as possible. I added a veil & top hat/bow tie to dress them up some. I added her wedding colors (blue/raspberry) in the flowers & there is alot of wood at the venue so I stood the beans on a wood grain textured base.
Here is the photo they are based on:

I made an armature for each bean from Sculpey Ultralight Clay so they wont be too heavy.

I then covered them in the tan color whe requested for the "skin". The arms & legs are toothpicks covered in clay & added into the armatures with liquid clay so they are very sturdy.

Here they are laying on my sketch.

They are about 3 inches tall.

Here they are all done!

Pretty cool huh? Different for sure!

Zombie Fest 2011

It was Zombie Fest on Saturday. It was held to raise money for cancer, part of Relay for Life. There was a zombie beauty pagent, jello brain eating contest, quarantine ten (10 minutes to quarantine your fave zombie for a donation) & zombie movies for canned food donations. There were booths set up as well.
My daughter and her b/f Alex went to it & had a blast. They "attacked" non zombies & got chased & quarantined as well. Here are a couple pics of their cool zombie makeup. In drama they are studying stage makeup right now so they also got extra credit for making themselves up & going!

We might go as a family next year!!

Hi all. I have not abandoned the blog. I have just been super busy. I am almost caught up on all my orders & I have added a few new designs for holiday beads to my etsy shop. Here's a few:

I have also made a few ornaments. I love prim or folksy styles and my beads dont really come across well in that way...But ornaments do. So here are a few of them:

The bottom ornament is made from paperclay & then painted & antiqued. The top is made from polymer clay then antiqued.

So this last weekend I finished up a fairly large order and took a picture of a few of the beads. Sorry nothing too exciting. I did have to make these in triplicate though! I have a ton of ideas running through my brain right now!! I just want to make them BUT I have orders to complete. I did make a few extras as I was filling orders. They will be listed in my Etsy shop shortly!

The below picture is of my old boxer Daisy. My husband..who really is a kid on the inside..thought it would be halarious to put the empty paper towel roll over her little stubby tail & tape it on. Of course it was pretty funny so I snapped a couple pics.

This next week I'll be working on lots of beads.. Stay tuned!

Today only made 3 bow centers. Shame on me! Here they are:

I also pulled all the baby carrots out of the garden. I picked a big ole bowl of yellow wax beans & a smaller bowl of green beans. Plus my poor corn is finally getting those little wheat looking things in the tops. Yeah! Heres my little garden with my chicken coop in the background:

We also went to our towns Blackberry Festival. I really wanted one of these cool silver teapot windchimes. Unfortunately I couldnt justify the purchase at $55-$90 each! But to be honest I only went to get a scone & meat on a stick!

So quite some time ago I started a personal facebook. I never check it. I started an offshoot page Michelles Clay Beads. I never check it. Today I checked it! OMG>> I am so sorry that I didnt reply to anyone who commented or had bead questions! It's like all of a sudden I had some people there!!
Go like me there! I am vowing to stay on top of stuff now that I have actual internet. Death to dial-up!

New Turkeys

Wanted to post my newest turkeys. I usually come up with a new turkey design a bit different from the last every year. These were made special order for a customer from Etsy. She said make whichever turkeys I wanted so I came up with these! I will have some of these available later in the shop. Maybe in September along with some other turkeys. I had this great cutter that I used for feathers last year but my daschund Winnie ate it..

I was recently camping..twice. The first time my cousin Lisa had this awsome smelling lotion called Fruit Loops that I absolutely loved! Then the 2nd time she had some lotion called Bite Me & I loved it too! She told me about Beth who makes it & sells it & I said "OMG I have to get some!" Now smelly lotions don't usually get me excited. I have plenty of stuff from Bath & Body but this was different!

I contacted Beth via her etsy shop & told her what I was looking for. She didnt have any Fruit Loops made up but recommended Fruit Slices, a slightly more grown up scent she said. BTW Fruit loops smells like the cereal. I ordered it ($8 for 7 oz bottle) and a lip gloss ($3) called Orange Dreamsicle. She shipped it to me from Roseburg, OR (2 hrs from me). I got it yesterday (well the day before but I hadnt checked the mail)..
It is awsome! Guess what she did? Not only did she send the lip gloss & the Fruit Slices lotion..She sent me a bottle of fruit loops that she made special for me! As well as handmade soap in Fruit Slices and 2 more lip glosses! WOW!! What a sweety! She was afraid I wouldnt like her recommendation!

I had my lotion on my desk today at work & almost all the girls (no exaggeration) were coming by & helping themselves. I put on Fruit Loops after my shower this morning & then reapplied a little to my hands/arms after lunch & its 6:25 & I still smell good! I have allergies to some scents & this didnt bother me at all.. Yeah me!

Look at these awsome candles! I have an order in right now for Rootbeer, Bite Me & Blueberry Muffin. I smelled one of Lisa's candles called Reindeer Poo this morning & it was so scented & holiday-ish. These are soy candles!

Please go visit Beths Etsy shop: Making Perfect Scents. You wont be dissapointed with her products! I mean this lotion is all natural: Jojoba oil, spring water, hempseed oil, mango butter..Please! You could just about eat it! Plus its nicely moisturizing & not greasy or slimy at all. I love this newest design.. I know I will feel guilty for posting new designs because I should be working on your orders! But I cant help it. I get an idea & I have to try it!

This little owl has a swirly stamped belly. She is 3 shades of pink & wears a gold crown & has a gold star wand! Love it!! I have tons of owl ideas in the works. A birthday owl, ballerina owl & a Santa owl. Stay tuned to see them here soon! I put 3 princess owls in my etsy shop yesterday and there is only one left as of right now!

Hello everyone. I have arrived in the world..About 3 hours ago..Why?
After irritating problems, I finally have high speed internet! After 16 years or more on dial-up I finally have it!
First of all let me say if you have Frontier for a phone company & you live in a rural area, DO NOT believe them when they tell you you can receive high speed internet at your house! They will tell you they tested everything & its available to you,. they will set upthe appointment for the techincian to set it all up then when they do not show up at your house, after you have taken the day off of work to be there (& u waited 14 days for the day to arrive), they will not call to tell you that they cancelled your installation because...GUESS WHAT! This service is not available in your area! AND even though they had your cell number, your sons & your home number, they wont call you to let you know! Then when you call them, they will apologize profusely & say they dont know why that happened. They will investigate it..But PLEASE dont cancel your home phone & use only your cell!

So thanks to Verizon Mifi..Here I am sitting on the couch with my laptop doing this..and quickly! I can't hardly believe it! May sound crazy to you..but seriously this is a HUGE deal for me. I am finally keeping up with the Joneses on at least this!!
